Overview
Chowly evolved from being a purely headless API provider into a comprehensive platform that enables restaurants to directly manage their operations. As a Senior Product Designer, I contributed to the definition, design, and scaling of this new experience—turning complex technical processes into clear, intuitive interfaces that empower restaurant teams.
A New Kind of Business Platform
Restaurants relied heavily on invisible integrations, with little to no direct control over menus, orders, and configurations. The challenge was to transform that technical backend logic into a user-friendly, scalable platform, one that could support a wide variety of operators with different levels of expertise.
The Solution
I designed the Restaurant Control Center (RCC) and Chowly Operations Orchestrator (COO), creating a cohesive ecosystem that included: • Unified dashboards to provide clarity on KPIs and performance. • Configuration modals and flows for cross-sells, menu management, and order settings. • A shared layout system (topbar + sidebar) that ensures consistency across all modules. • Scalable design patterns aligned with Chowly’s design system, making future feature expansion easier.
Visual & System Design
The platform’s visual direction focused on clean, functional layouts with high readability. Using Shadcn components and v0.dev prototypes, I established a design system that balanced scalability for developers with usability for restaurant operators.
The result
This work marked a pivotal step in Chowly’s transition from headless APIs to a restaurant-facing SaaS platform. The new interfaces not only improved adoption and operational clarity but also positioned Chowly as a more complete partner for restaurant operations, beyond just integrations.
